2009 Eagle's Schedule

During the offseason, the Eagles have signed Leonard Weaver to a one year deal. Weaver, who played for the Seattle Seahawks for his entire 5 year NFL career, is as tough and mean as they come. He is an extremely versatile player. He can block, pass protect, run, recieve, and fire his team up. In his five year career, Weaver has not lit up the statistics: (80 carries for 356 yards and one touchdown, and 60 receptions for 547 yards and three touchdowns). Do not let the statistics fool you. All you have to do is type in Weaver's name on YouTube and you can see what he is capable of. He can run around and through defenders. Also, Weaver has one of the most bone-crunching stiffarms in the game today. Standing at 6 feet and weighing in at 242 pounds, Weaver is a force to be reckoned with. He is deceptively fast and is a natural down-hill runner. He gives everything he has every play and to me, he has filled a huge void for the Eagles offense. For the past two years, the Eagles have not had a "true" fullback. Early last year, Andy Reid attempted to have Tony Hunt (Penn State) play the fullback position. Unfortuneately, it did not work out. Hunt was undersized and was a natural runningback. That is the only position he played during his four year career at Penn State. Weaver on the other hand, has played fullback his entire career and has a tendency to man-handle defenders off of the ball. Weaver also solves another offensive problem, the goal line situation. As most of you Eagles fans know, the Eagles could not run the ball inside the 20 yard line. I truly believe that Weaver has solved that problem. So this year, do not look for McNabb to sneak it in or throw for the touchdown, instead he will be handing it off to one of the most aggressive fullbacks in the league; Leonard Weaver. I wish him nothing but the best and I look forward to seeing him in action in an Eagles uniform in September.
